Tiny Writing Tips #33
A short list of filler words I would avoid. Remember to check the context of these words before you start going on a deleting spree! Sometimes, it’s easy to remove the words out of your work, and other times the sentence will sound odd (you might have to re-write).

- so
- really
- that
- like
- about (sometimes)
- rather
- just
- qualifiers in general are not a sin to use. However, if your writing gets wordy, you start editing chopping out qualifiers!
Chopping out filler words won’t transform your writing to level awesome. It is not a rule to not use filler words. If you have a reason to use them, then by all means do! Good luck writing!
Thinking of doing Camp NanoWrimo
It’s basically NaNoWriMo Summer edition, which may be more doable with some people’s schedules. It runs the contest in June and then one later in August. I honestly feel unprepared for it because I just found out about it, and I only have skeleton ideas. I’m starting to think I may join both months.
I plan on working on The Envoy for the good part of my summer. I feel weird writing part of it for NaNo, however I may just use the June contest as an excuse to help me focus on my novel. I think that is what I will be doing for June! I’ll be writing something new for August. I’ll try to think of something by the end of this week.

Shaym #4: 30 Days of Character Development
4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
Oh boy, here it comes. Shaym is extremely vain in the sense of his accomplishments. He is conceited, no doubt about it, and he’ll flaunt it whenever he feels like. Not so much his appearance, though. I’ve been thinking about Shaym’s view on beauty and how warped it could become in 200+ years, or if what he does or has happened to him has changed his view
I think, as a dead boy, he does not deem physical attractiveness as something important. He has no physical body to speak of, and thus, he feels no physical attraction. In fact, all soul, including the envoys of the Underworld, do not feel physical attraction, or anything felt with the body (aka heat/cold, lust). Feelings are internal, shown in different ways.
So does find himself attractive? Probably yes. And he could care less about who else thinks so. No one is inclined to tell him otherwise.
